Day 4: "My Dusty Piano"

I wanted some better contrast on this, but the reflection suffered when I tried to get it the way I wanted.  I needed better lighting, but at least I got to practice using longer exposures. Also, the focus landed on the wrong keys.  What I do like is the diagonals, the red and yellow stripes, and the reflection.  Also, I love my piano!  (But I need to dust it more often.... ha ha.)

  1. Your idea of dust is very different from mine :-) The viewpoint in this shot is Awesome, and I like what you did with the border.

  2. I like the diagonals, and the entire presentation, however the border leaves me a bit uneasy? I think it is the outer border being the same size??

    1. I tried bigger and smaller, but same size was better. I think it would have been better without the outer border.

  3. Great diagonals. I think the inner border creates an optical illusion of the keys twisting. I think the border may have worked better had the lighting tapered off up at the top end. As it is your eye follows the path of the keys and then hits this border but yet your eye stills wants to continue along the keys, creating confusion (in my opinion :D)

  4. I like the way the border is the same red as in the photo. Your piano looks brand new!

    1. It's 20 years old, but the Japanese people who had it before me took excellent care of it. I just got it in December.

  5. I feel sure I commented on this before...

Anyway, I like the diagonal composition although the lighting is perhaps a little flat.

  6. What's there to dust? :) I also like the diagonals. The whites could be whiter still, it looks fine.
